The Growing Connection Garden at Google - Mountain View, CA

A new research and education site for The Growing Connection is now growing at the GooglePlex headquarters in Mountain View, California.  Googlers, as Google employees like to be called, will be eating delicious, fresh, local produce grown right outside their office buildings.  The Growing Connection Garden at Google represents a new way for businesses and non-profits to work together on a common mission to fight hunger and poverty.

American Horticultural Society - Arlington, VA

The American Horticultural Society was founded in 1922 and is one of the oldest member-based national gardening organizations in the country. AHS members range from avid, amateur home gardeners to leaders in horticulture.  AHS has a vision to make America a Nation of Gardeners, a land of Gardens.  AHS’s mission is to open the eyes of all Americans to the vital connection between people and plants to inspire all Americans to become responsible caretakers of the Earth, to celebrate America’s diversity through arts and sciences of horticulture and to lead this effort by sharing the Society’s unique national resources with all Americans. Chicago High School of Agriculture - Chicago, IL

The Chicago Public School system opened the Chicago High School for Agriculture in 1985 as an educational center for plant science and agribusiness.  Students from the school chose from a range of classes that concentrate in agricultural science, participate in summer internships in agriculture related topics, and take part in the annual Chicago Flower and Garden Show.

Students from the Chicago High School for Agriculture also participate in The Growing Connection and they share their experience growing vegetables in Earthboxes with the other schools involved.

Chef Michael Altenberg’s Crust grows organic herbs and vegetables in their TGC Demo Garden of nearly 50 boxes.

The Science Barge - New York, NY

Visit The Growing Connection demonstration garden on the New York Sun Works Science Barge.  The Science Barge is a sustainable urban farm designed by New York Sun Works, an environmental nonprofit organization. The Science Barge tours New York City’s public waterfront parks, offering sustainability education programs to wide audiences.  Click here to visit their website for more info.
